Tanki Online - Maps - DesertThe Deathtrack map on Tanki is quite large and ranks as one of my favourites for playing any of the four battle modes, using Railgun as a primary weapon. Control Points and Catch the flag. Team Death Match and individual Death Match battles are good if there are decent numbers of players in attendance, although playing 1 v 1 with Railgun,
Thunder and Smokey turrets with faster moving hulls is a good option. Shaft will always do well on this map especially in catch the flag battles, by positioning their tank close to the map, looking straight down a long road to the opponents base and flag position. All the other turrets; Ricochet, Twins, Hammer, Vulcan, Firebird, Smoky, Freeze, and Isida and can all enjoy a game on Desert providing they can escape the attentions of the snipers mentioned above. There are walls and buildings to hide behind, in a mostly open map. These structure are excellent positions for the likes of Firebird, Hammer, and Freeze who can destroy enemies quickly, often before the enemy has a chance to see them. There are five Control Points on Desert, positioned in a mainly central location of the map, meaning that the vast majority of action only takes place in a fairly small portion of the map. This makes control point battles very intense, which is helped further by having most of the features to hide behind close by. Desert is available to players who hold the rank of Staff Sergeant and higher in the Ranks Structure. Take a quick tour of the Desert MapBelow is a "Real Time" tour of the Take a quick tour of the Desert Map, showing the flag positions and the routes between the two. It also shows many of the supplies drop points along the way.
Booster Drop Zones on the Desert MapBelow is the plan of the Desert map showing all the booster drop locations. There are four speed boosters but are not conveniently located, tucked away on the edge of the map, as are the two repair kits. On the plus side, if you see an enemy tank heading towards these green boxes, they are probably very low on health and worth having a shot at.
Two of the double armour boosters are near what often is the main battle area with another on the southern edge of the map.Two double damage boosters feature roughly in a central location, one of them next to the red flag. The third is tucked away on the northern edge of the map.
