Tanki Online - Maps - HighwaysHighways is a very large map on five levels that features three high level bridges that span a large section of the map from east to west, with another shorter bridge directly under the long central bridge. Naturally to access all these levels, which are at both ends of the map, are two ramps up to each level. The two high level sections are where the team flags are positioned, as are a series of large buildings. There are further buildings in the centre of the map at the lowest level. There are walls to hide behind on all levels so plenty of places to take cover from enemy fire. The west half of the map is a mirror image of the east half, making it a fair as map as possible.
This is great for Catch the flag, Death Match, Control Points and Team Death Match battles, but it is the catch the flag scenario that is the most popular battle by far. However, the control points battles should not be overlooked but these are fraught with danger as Highways is a dream for Shaft and Railgun players. However, as much fun as these two turret players can have on this map, players with other turrets can also play and active part in either defense or attack. If you want to attack the enemy base, or play either of the death match modes, you ideally want to use a fairly fast hull (Hornet or Wasp) but of course the heavy defensive guns might make light work of destroying you. There are seven control points on the map, all right across the middle of the map running north to south. One is at the very middle of the longest and highest bridge, with another on the bridge below this, and yet another one on the lowest level directly under this second bridge. The two 'outer' bridges also have a control point half way across, and the last two are at the extreme north and south edges of the map, in line with all the others. Although you might feel a little safer in these lower levels, you may begin to appreciate how good a shaft turret is and just how much terrain they can cover. This is not a map to for those with a nervous disposition, as it takes a reasonable degree of skill and cunning to get the most enjoyment from. Highways is available to players who hold the rank of Master Sergeant and higher in the Ranks Structure. Booster Drop Zones on the Highways MapBelow is the plan of the Highways map showing all the booster drop locations. There are just two repair kits so be prepared to be destroyed quite frequently as the chances of topping up your health is remote unless there is a friendly Isida on your team. There are 10 double armour boosters with one right next to each flag position, and two more on every other level. There are also 10 double damage boosters with two close to each flag position, and two more on every other level.
