Tanki Online - Maps - SkylarkThe Skylark map on Tanki is a medium sized map that is excellent for Catch the Flag, Control Points and Team Death Match battles. The Death Match games can be great as long as you have at least 10 players, otherwise you can spend too much time hunting enemy tanks. The layout of the map is quite basic and has very few trees or shrubs. While there is a lot of grassland, it is essential something of a concrete jungle with three distinct areas where buildings have been erected. These areas are connected by three bridges which have to be considered as highly vulnerable places to navigate. The east side of the map is raised terrain and rises two levels up. The upper level has access to the longest bridge and has three ramp access points.
The blue team flag is not at all obvious when touring the map as it is partially obscured by a building in the south east corner which has lots of places to set up defensive positions quite effectively, although there is a serious risk of being attacked from the north as players tend to focus more on the bridge to the west. The red team flag is positioned on open ground, in the middle of a road, making it a little harder to defend although the likes of Shaft, Vulcan and Railgun can take up good positions that offer long range sniping opportunities. Twins,Thunder, Smoky and Ricochet make use defensive weapons for the red flag too. This section of map has five access points so attacking options are good and there is great potential for a 'smash and grab' raid here. As with most map, deathmatch battles are great for Firebird, Freeze, Hammer and Isida with fast hulls as it is quite easy at times to sneak up on opponents. There are lots of places to take cover behind buildings, under bridges and behind walls. Skylark is available to players who hold the rank of Master Sergeant and higher in the Ranks Structure. Booster Drop Zones on the Skylark MapBelow is the plan of the Skylark map showing all the booster drop locations. You will notice that the creator of the map has been a little conservative with boosters with just two Repair Kits and two Double Damage boosters. In the Control Points mode, one of the Repair kits is replaced by a Control Point, making Isida a very useful turret. In deed, and Isida player can score big points here in Control Points games without destroying another tank. The red team flag also doubles up as a control Point, making a total of five. It could have been possible to add another in the south west corner, which is all but redundant in many games.
