In September 2015, Tanki introduced a thing called "Daily Missions", to offer players the opportunity to be rewarded with boosters and/or crystals. This replaced the previous system where you would automatically receive rewards for simply logging in to your Tanki account.
When the Daily Missions were first introduced I thought they were a very good idea as it "forced" players to actually take part in battles to get rewarded, something I saw as being much more reasonable - why should anyone be rewarded for doing nothing? Nearly a month later, while I still believe the idea is good, there are a couple of things about the game that appear to have changed quite dramatically.
The first thing I noticed was the increase in the use of boosters, in particular the double damage booster, making a single shot is normally enough to destroy most, if not all tanks in the game you are playing. In most cases, and certainly on the larger maps such as Berlin and Deathtrack this is not actually much of an issue, on the smaller maps such as Zone and Sandbox, I feel it unbalances the battles to a considerable extent.
Prior to the Daily Missions making an appearance, while some players would use some boosters, they were not generally used to the extent that they are now because in those days you have to purchase boosters by using up some of your crystals, which is actually quite costly if you are trying to perform micro upgrades to your tank at the same time.
What we have now is some players that are using boosters almost continuously throughout a battle and the worst instance I have seen so far was in 60 minute battle on Zone, where a Smoky turret with a Titan hull was blasting his way through a Control Points battle on a smaller map, assisted by an Isida behind, topping up his health. Needless to say his team won quite convincingly but that in itself is nothing to worry about. However, this players points total was nearly four times higher than any other play in the game, and that sort of ration is incredibly rare in a "normal" battle, even over 60 minutes. As a consequence he also went away with a far larger number of crystals, almost equal to what the other eight players received between them.
Another other thing that happened was that other players, from both teams, got fed up with him and left the battle. Indeed the odds were 5 v 3 when it finished. I was one of those unfortunate souls who was on the receiving end but I stayed to the bitter end as I had accrued to highest points in my team, and did not want to lose the crystals I have earned.
I tried everything I could to destroy that Smoky and succeeded just twice in the 25 minute spell in which he used that combination. The rest of the game used an Isida and was far less effective, though still quite strong and using boosters.
I now have the impression that having the best tank or being the most skillful in a battle is not always going to mean you that you can compete, as whoever has the most boosters is probably going to come out on top and I am not sure this is such a good thing.
The second thing that has come about from the introduction of Daily Missions is that it appears that some players have become more greedy when it comes to collecting boosters than drop on to the map during battles. In a Death Match battle this is fine as it prevents other players grabbing them and getting an advantage over you but in team battles, this is a very bad thing. Because there is the motivation to collect say seven double armour boosters, players will now simply collect them, even of they are already using one! The same applies for repair kits where they collect them with a tank that already has full health, often to the detriment of their team members. It causes arguments sometimes and while players may be apologetic for their actions they justify them with Daily Missions. I find it frustrating at times but there is no simple solution to combat this.
