Tanki Online - Death Match BattlesDeath Match battles area game where it is every person for themselves. Some maps seem to be more popular for this type of battle and the small to medium sized maps are often the better ones to play, something like Polygon, Sandbox, Rio, Tribute or Future. Most of these smaller maps are dominated by Firebird but the likes of Hammer, Freeze, Ricochet, Thunder and Railgun can all compete well. Death match battles are not my priority when playing Tanki but I do enjoy them when there is a full compliment of players, which normally happens.
I have taken part in some death match battles on larger maps such as Gubakha which have been excellent but these can only reached this level of experience if there is a large number of players taking part. In such games you are also more likely to see a much wider range of tanks and although Firebirds still take part in numbers on such occasions they are not always the 'top dogs'. In general players simply go round the map, meeting other tanks and try to destroy each other, while another tank or two comes up behind you with the same intention. There are times when a degree of skill or a little thought is required to gain that extra kill or two whatever you try to do, just remember that there is no-one there to watch your back. One versus one death match battles are a little different and needs a slightly different approach. In these cases you need to find a way to outwit your opponent and this can be hard if you are up against a really good player. On small, and mostly open maps you will probably find that Railgun with a Wasp hull is very hard to compete against. This mode of battle does not normally allow to sit around and enjoy the scenery and unless you put 100% in to the battle, you will not win.

There is one thing that does annoy me slightly when playing death match battles and that is when two or more people become a team, or at least make a pact to not destroy each other. This is essentially cheating but there is not much you can do about it at the end of the day. I can only conclude that they do this because they are not particularly effective in battle on their own, but it doesn't always mean they get destroyed less as players like me, when they realise what is going on, target these people as a priority. These people normally do not win the battles either because as individuals, they are still mostly ineffective. If you have the chat window open during a death match battle you will sometimes see a player asking to team up with another. You can always step in and say a simple "No" or, "go to team death match" and hope that are discouraged. Many players feel the same as I do on this matter so in many cases these players do tend to back off if there are several others against the proposal. |
